 The City Dayton Department of Recreation and Youth Services, Oral Funk Productions and SinclairCommunity College’s Melo Poetry Club are proud to present “A Poetic Perspective” with Def Poets Sunni Patterson and John Goode.
The brown bag lunch affair will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Dayton Cultural and RTA Center, located at 40 S. Edwin C. Moses Boulveard.
Local poet enthusiasts can bring their own lunch and hear the stories of two incredible poets, chat with them about their experiences, and listen to a sample of their life’s work. The event is free and open to the public.
More than a just a poet and singer, Sunni Patterson is a visionary who has been a featured performer at many of the nation's premier spoken word venues, including HBO's Def Poetry Jam. Emerging from New Orleans, Sunni combines the heritage and tradition of her native town with an enlightened modern world view to create music and poetry that is timeless in its groove.
Emmy Nominee and HBO's Def Poetry Jam poet, John Goode hails from Richmond, Virginia and over the past decade has performed his unique brand of comedic and life-affirming poetry at colleges and universities all over the nation . John represents a refreshing change to traditional the performance of poetry, and has established himself as one of the most influential and positive voices in the African American community.
This is a “brown bag lunch” event. Alcoholic beverages, glass containers and red drinks are not permitted.
