Youth Summer Camps Providing Excitement, Fun and Physical Activity Now Accepting Registrations


Youth Summer Camp


This year’s summer camp program will be an exciting and fun-filled time of learning. Our program is designed to keep your young person ages 6 - 12 years old fully engaged all day. They will learn about themselves, how to work and play with others, and explore various concepts from appreciating our earth, to testing their knowledge of animals, sports, and more. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are provided daily. Join us at the following locations: NorthwestRecreationCenter

Fees and Registration:


The cost is $65.00 per week for residents and $80.00 for non-residents. There is a $10.00 fee for extended care. The Summer Camps are from Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm and extended care from 7:30 am – 9:00 am and from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Please contact center personnel for further information.



Registration begins May 5, 2008 at Lohrey or NorthwestCenters.

Pee Wee Camp


Even the little ones need to have a great summer break. Bring your Pre-schoolers ages 3 to 5 years of age to our Pee Wee Camp so they can develop school readiness skills through an age-appropriate curriculum, and have a super fun-filled day. Naps are included and so is breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack! Registration begins May 5, 2008. This camp will be held at the Northwest Recreation Center

The Pee Wee Camp themes are similar to the Youth Summer Camp, with some modifications in field trips planned. In addition, games, activities, and crafts will be age appropriate and emphasize learning fundamental academic and social skills.

Safety


Visitor: Children’s Medical Center


Safety comes first in all activities that we do. This week will focus on how to be safe and stay safe at the center, at home and at school. The little ones will learn about dog safety and how to deal with strangers.

Sports of All Sorts


Basketball, baseball, golf and flag football are just a few of the sports that your budding star athlete will play this week. The Pee Wee’s will use foam balls and still learn the fundamentals of each game!

Wild about Animals


Field Trip: Young’s Dairy Farm


During the week, we’ll explore the impact that animals have on our lives and environment. Come with us as we get to know all about our furry and fluffy friends… the animals.

5 Senses


Visitor: Boonshoft Center


All activities planned for this week will encourage campers to use all 5 senses: taste, sight, hearing, touch and smell.

The focus this week is to experience all of the sites and sounds of nature. Youth Tennis Camp


Once again, Recreation and YOUth Services will offer its popular tennis camp for youth ages 6—17 years old. This camp is designed to instill the knowledge and desire needed to maximize youth’s tennis ability and summer fun! We allow each individual the opportunity to master skills needed to reach the next plateau in tennis proficiency and enjoyment.

Fairview Park Program


The Department of Recreation and Youth Services, with support from the Phoenix collaborative, will implement a park program for youth (children ages 6 to 12) residing in the Phoenix Project target area within the Fairview neighborhood. Activities will include visits arts and crafts, various recreation and sports games, and water play.
