The City of Dayton Department of Recreation & Youth Services Riverbend Art Center once again offer the award- winning a.r.i.s.e. (Artistic Resources in Social Empowerment) program to youth ages 4 – 14.
a.r.i.s.e. (Artistic Resources in Social Empowerment) is an after-school, artist-in-residence program that allows professional artists to show and teach the participants visual and performing arts. Participating youth can select from among the many art forms offered this season, including airbrush, dance, drama, drawing/cartooning, jewelry making, lapidary, painting, paper sculpture, photography, pottery and story and song. Pre-schoolers ages 4-6 years old are introduced to various art mediums including painting, making collages, stenciling and clay work. The a.r.i.s.e. program is offered in the spring and fall of the year. The spring 2008 session dates are March 10 to May 8, 2008.
The fee for a.r.i.s.e. is $50.00 per student, for a two-day, nine-week session. If multiple siblings from the same household are registered together, the fee is $35.00 for each additional child. Parents can register students at Riverbend Art Center Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM.
The classes for ages 4 to 6 will take place at the Dayton Cultural and RTA Transit Center from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Youth ages 7 through 14 are given instruction at Riverbend Art Center and the Dayton Playhouse from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The participants attend either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
